Still Dogsledding

It’s been wonderfully warm this weekend in Eagle Lake.  Ed and Marion enjoyed dogsledding this morning in 50 degrees!!

In other news, We are booking for the 2012 Bear Hunt!  Give Ed a call and come hunt with the best guides you will ever find!  I hear the food is great too!

Dog Sledding

Inspired by the recent Can-Am, Ed and Marion took two teams out this past weekend.  Ed driving one team of 8 dogs and Marion driving a team of 6.  Ed led the teams all the way to Blake Lake!  Approximately 10 miles round trip!

If you are interested learning about the dogs, riding and even driving a team of dogs on the Lake or up through the woods, give them a call.   You can book one run which takes a couple hours or an entire weekend with a cabin rental and run a few different teams.  It’s a great experience!

Winter Adventure Camp Photos

I am adding to the Winter Adventure Camp photos this afternoon – More dogsledding picts to look at!  We are having withdrawals from camp!!  If you were here, leave us a message telling us what you miss most.

TUESDAY of Winter Adventure!

Another beautiful day!  The campers spent time dogsledding, of course, and went to 10th Mountain to ski and shoot – just like those who participate in the Biathlon!   While waiting for their turn on the dogsled this afternoon, many campers enjoyed roasting marshmallows on the shore of Eagle Lake!

Day 2 of Camp!

What a busy day!  We had soooo much fun!

You can see some pictures if you click on 2012 Winter Adventure Photos

The morning was spent sliding down the hill between the dining hall and the main drive, dogsledding and playing games in the dining hall.

The ‘train’ slide was created.  The ‘train’ slide is when about a dozen campers all hold on to each other and slide at the same time resulting in a big pile of hats, mittens, boots and laughter at the bottom of the hill.

Then all the campers and staff strapped on snowshoes and hiked into the woods about a mile to have a campfire and roast hotdogs for lunch.  Just when everyone had their full of hotdogs, Jen brought out the marshmallows, chocolate and graham crackers – S’MORES!

Back at camp we spent some time dogsledding and sliding and just before dinner we played a friendly game of Snow Soccer!!  Kim’s team vs. Courtney’s team.  Both say their team won!

After dinner we worked up an appetite for dessert by playing a few rounds of Tin Can Alley (Kick the Can)!  It was a blast.

While walking back to our cabins after filling our bellies with brownies, Paul, a camper from NY, pointed out Orion’s belt!

Too much fun for one day!  And tomorrow, we plan on having EVEN more.

Extended Trail

Winter Adventure just got longer – Well, the trail did anyway!  Ed and Marion spent the weekend (with a temperature high of 4 degrees) extending the dogsled trail.  For those of you who know the area, it now runs all the way from the Lodge to Blake Lake.  Making the trail involves Ed and Marion snowshoeing the proposed trail to pack it down enough for the snowmobile to travel on it.  Then they run the snowmobile over it a few time (they only got stuck a couple times).  Once it’s packed, Ed ‘drags’ the trail; a process that flattens it out taking away the majority of the snowy pot holes.  Lastly they hook up the dogs and take them out for a trial trail run!  The first run was great and Marion is running each night after school to keep the dogs in shape for Winter Adventure Camp!
